Christchurch City Council Candidates

Christchurch City Council People's Choice Candidates

  • I’ve fought hard to keep Banks Peninsula’s voice heard at the council table.

Grounded by my background as a financial analyst and social worker, I’ve listened to you and learned. I’ve stood up for us and worked alongside many of you to protect the environment we love, stop our port from being sold, and deliver on local facilities in our many communities.

We’ve achieved a lot together, let’s keep that momentum going

  • I’ve lived on the eastside for over 40 years. I know the streets, the people, the struggles and strengths. I bring local knowledge, integrity, and a deep commitment to community wellbeing. I’m a neighbour who listens, a doer who cares, and a voice for us all, backed by strong governance experience to get things done.

I’m out to hear from you and I’ll be turning that into action.

Let’s build a stronger eastside, together.

  • I’m proud to call Innes home. With deep local roots, strong connections with community groups, and years of experience I understand our challenges and also our opportunities.

I’ve secured $18 million for local flood protection, funding for the Edgeware Pool re-build, initiated the two for one tree planting policy at Council, supported the urban forest plan, protected public assets from a fire sale, and I’m working hard to keep rates down.

Let’s keep building a vibrant inclusive future for Christchurch and Innes together

  • As Deputy Chair of your Community Board since 2019 I've been active, accessible, and approachable.

I’ve run Think Papanui since 2016. As a member of the Institute of Directors and past co-chair of a Local Government NZ advisory committee, I have the skills and experience needed to serve you as Councillor.

My priorities include: community participation in decision-making; an effective transport system; improving our environment; and responding to climate change.

  • Our city is a great place to live.

Together we’re creating connected, liveable neighbourhoods. The revamps of Pioneer Stadium and Spreydon Library look great, with the library now open longer. Our parks are getting a tidy up, footpaths are being renewed. Safer transport choices for our children and families will only get better.

I’m asking for your continued support to keep delivering for our community. Let’s retain our city’s strategic assets for now and the future.

  • I grew up in Sumner and Ōpāwa, and moved to Waltham with my wife last year. We love it here!

To protect Heathcote Ward for our kids and grandkids, we must meet the challenges of a growing city and a changing climate head on.

As a community organiser, I’ve worked with small businesses and residents to block a bad deal with Wilson Parking, won a Living Wage for library workers, and kept Lyttelton Port 100% Christchurch-owned. I’ve also worked in NGO governance and small business management.

I know what it takes to make change. Let's talk soon.

  • I’m standing for re-election to maintain progress on key issues in the ward.

These include moving the Organics Plant from Bromley, repairing the Wastewater Treatment Plant, improving controls on industrial activities adjacent to residential areas, enhancing the Ōtakaro Avon and Ōpāwaho Heathcote rivers and removing chlorine from our drinking water.

I’ve stood strong against selling off public assets and fought for increased transparency with open briefings.

I’ll continue to advocate for greater investment towards fixing roads, footpaths and tackling flooding in the east.

  • We’ve made real progress in Riccarton — delivering $54 million of core infrastructure, building a new pocket park, supporting local groups, and solving more than 100 local issues, from burst pipes to waste removal.

I’m ready to keep working for you. Next up, I’m focused on making positive change from Sockburn to Deans Avenue and continuing to build momentum in Riccarton.

I’m asking for your continued support so we can keep building a stronger, more connected neighbourhood together. Let’s keep moving!
